Google Halloween Doodle 2011

In celebration of Halloween, the front page of Google is featuring a time-lapse Google Doodle animation of their logo being cared out of giant pumpkins on the lawn of the Google campus in Mountain View, CA.

Heidi Klum Dresses As Dead Body for Halloween

German supermodel Heidi Klum did not fail to impress at her 12th Heidi Klum’s Annual Halloween party which she hosted at the Venetian Resort’s TAO Nightclub in Las Vegas.

Dressed as a "dead body with the first layer of skin ripped off," Klum made a dramatic red carpet entrance being wheeled out on an autopsy table. Before long she was up and posing for the cameras in her gory costume.

She tweeted a series of photos of her face makeup as it was being applied:

Zombie Head Cheese

As the festival of Halloween looms around the corner, deliciously creepy confections run rampant, and the ‘Zombie Head Cheese’ by Not Martha will creep your guests out while filling up their tummies. And while it looks rather gross, it’s really just spreadable cheese on a plastic skull with some food coloring and, the best part, cocktail onions for eyeballs.

The World's Largest Pumpkin, Carved into Zombies by Ray Villafane

The New York Botanical Garden brought on master food sculptor Ray Villafane to carve zombies out of two giant pumpkins, one of which was the world’s heaviest pumpkin weighing 1,818.5 pounds.

The record breaking pumpkin features three creepy monsters bursting out of the huge orange shell, covered in pumpkin guts as they claw their way to freedom. He even has bits of the pumpkin suspended in air by long tooth picks as if they are just climbing their way out of it.

The Dark Side of Halloween [infographic]

Once again America’s famous holiday that isn’t really a holiday is upon us. We get to dress up like mystical creatures and scare anyone we want. It is a pretty fun holiday, for all ages.

As a kid there is nothing better than getting free candy. All-I-could-eat candy. I’d get to hang out with friends and go door to door for delicious treats. What a wonderful day. Once I grew into a teenager it was less treats and more trespassing. Toilet papering was really big on the 31st, same with egging and all of those shenanigans. This graphic even says some guy shot dead a teen for throwing eggs at his car. What a bad Halloween for the kid. Now during college, candy is replaced with booze and trick-or-treating with parties. We still dress up and have a blast.

I wonder if Halloween gets worse after college? Once I only attend small get-togethers with my co-workers I don’t know if I’ll have as much fun. For now, I’m not going to worry about my Halloween’s future, just the one coming up in a week or so. Remember, Halloween is a scary night, be safe out there.
